With a design theme of "New Era of the Stone City - Dancing Dragon and Wandering Fish," the Yihe Platinum Bay Sales Center is a unique representation of Nanjing's Stone City culture. The design team drew inspiration from the city's history, integrating elements of this rich cultural background into the project. The result is an elegant and simple space, adorned with warm-colored decorations that enhance the sense of scale.
The lobby's space is outlined holistically in vertical and horizontal directions, with the second-floor aisle space highlighted by components of metals, tinted glass, and piano-keyboard-like stairs. Artistic installations, such as paper fish sculptures, elevate the visual effect and flexibility of the space. The reception desk, spliced in the form of flowing water, echoes the background of swimming fish, further enhancing the overall design's cohesion.
The project's unique properties lie in its ability to capture the essence of Nanjing City's history while presenting a modern, elegant space. The design team faced significant challenges, particularly in the highlight design. Achieving the perfect effect for the glass side of the staircase required careful consideration of materials, color gradient, installation order, and the handling of irregular-sized glass. The paper installation also required the production of numerous samples to ensure the best quality and visual effects.
Constructed from materials such as metal meshwork, rock slab, tinted art glass, corrugated stainless steel, and paper sculpture, the Yihe Platinum Bay Sales Center spans an area of 660 square meters. The project was initiated in January 2020 and completed in June 2020. The design team's efforts have successfully broken the notion that the Hexi district is the "cultural desert of Nanjing," bringing a new stage to the Yihe series.
The Yihe Platinum Bay Sales Center is a shining example of how design can reflect a city's cultural heritage while embracing modern aesthetics. It is a testament to If Space Design's ability to create spaces that are not only functional and beautiful but also deeply rooted in the local culture and history. This project serves as an inspiration for designers worldwide, demonstrating the power of design in bridging the past and the future.
